In continuation of K-Electric's drive against kundas, TV cables, internet wires and illegal streetlights which were encroaching on power infrastructure throughout the city. The power utility has successfully removed more than 150 illegal connections from Sector 7A, 8A and 11A in North Karachi.
Furthermore, power supply to Noor Uddin Goth has been disconnected on account of unpaid dues of more than Rs10.2 million, while last payment was received from consumer on October 2017. The power utility urges immediate clearance of dues so that electricity supply may be restored.
All encroachments on K-Electric's poles tamper with and damage KE infrastructure, jeopardize the integrity of the electricity system affecting service provision and most importantly bypassing electrical safety mechanisms thus creating public safety hazards.
K-Electric has earlier highlighted that internet and TV cables were behind several unfortunate electrocution incidents that occurred during recent monsoon rains and its encroachment removal activities have gathered steam following a public notice which alerted cables operators that 19th August 2019 is the deadline to remove cables and other encroachments of electricity poles.-PR
