Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar on Sunday paid a visit to Narainpura - the most religiously diverse neighborhood of the Saddar Town - to review sanitary conditions of its 13 blocks. Mayor went to worship places of Christian, Hindu, and Sikh communities in Narainpura expressing solidarity with the residents. Gift of water coolers were also given to the management.
He was accompanied by social worker Rehan Allahwala, UC-22 chairman Asif Siddiqui, UC-23 Sultan Mehmood, area councilor Singh and other elected representatives. The residents of Narainpura complained about the problems regarding water shortage and sewerage overflow. Mayor said as Narainpura comes in KMC's jurisdiction, all development works and removal of encroachments will be carried out with the consultation of the residents. He said he knew the problems of this area and came here to meet and listen to problems.
Cleaning and painting work has initiated in the area. He urged the people to ensure cleanliness besides directing all sanitary workers to be on their duty in this area. He directed Sindh Building Control Authority to conduct survey and suggest precautionary measures for buildings in Narainpura. Waseem said Karachi was facing problems now with garbage littered and sewage water overflowing. KMC have shortage of resources to solve these issues, however all possible efforts will be made to solve the problems of Narainpura.
