Issuing directions to the Punjab Cabinet Committee for Price Control for initiating crackdown against illegal profiteering, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Monday said that artificial increase in the prices of pulses, vegetables and fruits will not be tolerated and district-level price control committees should also proactively perform their duties.
"No leniency must be shown to those found selling essential items at exorbitant rates," he said, adding: "The administrative officers should regularly visit markets for ensuring price control and no lame excuse will be acceptable with regard to the implementation of price control mechanism."
The chief minister made it clear that the people cannot be left at the mercy of illegal profiteering.
Buzdar said that humanity is dying in great distress and agony in Occupied Kashmir. The repression and atrocities committed by Indian armed forces on innocent and unarmed Kashmiri people has turned the paradise valley into hell, he said, adding: "The people of Occupied Kashmir are detained and confined to their homes due to continuous curfew being imposed on them."
He said that sacrifices being rendered by oppressed Kashmiris for the sake of attaining independence will never go waste.
The hearts of Pakistani people beat with their Kashmiri brethren together, he added.
He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has put the legitimate case of Kashmiri people in a highly comprehensive and courageous manner at every forum and the time is not far-off when the people of Occupied Kashmir can breathe in an independent environment.
Moreover, Buzdar has taken a notice of torture being committed by officials of Dolphin police force on a youth in Lahore and also sought a report from CCPO Lahore.
He directed that departmental as well as legal action should be initiated against those officials being found involved in committing torture. Despite issuance of clear-cut instructions, occurrence of such an incident is deplorable.
He said that there is a dire need to change the police culture and attitude in order to preempt occurrence of such incidents in future.
The CM has also taken notice of the incident of gang-rape of a student in Bhakkar and sought a report from RPO Sargodha.
He directed to arrest the criminals as soon as possible and legal action be initiated against them. He also directed the DPO Bhakkar to visit the residence of the grieved family and said that victim student will be provided justice at every cost.
