President Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Masood Khan has called upon the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (UNHCHR) to constitute a commission to investigate into ongoing Indian forces atrocities and human rights violations in the Indian-Occupied Kashmir (IoK).
Masood Khan, while addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, also urged the UNHCHR to establish a human corridor for providing access of the basic necessities to the people of IoK.
"It is the responsibility of the United Nations (UN) to take concrete steps in the current situation [of the IoK]. I also demand the UN Security Council to take immediate measures," he Khan.
"It is the 44th day of Indian siege in IoK which created a severe shortage of food, whereas thousands of Kashmiris are imprisoned in different jails located in north India and IoK. The Indian moves are an open violation of the UN Charter and Geneva Convention."
While detailing the outcomes of diplomatic efforts, he said that the European Parliament has held talks over the Kashmir dispute after a long time.
He said that under the UN Charter, it is the responsibility of the Security Council to play its role to avert a disastrous war in the region.
He said that all Indian actions including turning of Jammu and Kashmir State from the occupied territory into an Indian colony as well as bifurcation of the state are not only unlawful and immoral but these are also a violation of international laws and the UN resolutions.
Masood Khan said that India is carrying out ethnic cleansing and committing war crimes in IOJK in order to force the Kashmiri people leave their native homeland.
He urged the world community to take immediate steps for providing relief to the Kashmiris suffering from atrocities of the Indian authorities after its illegal annexation by ending its special status.
