National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has summoned Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah to appear before its combined investigation team (CIT) on September 24, in connection with the fake bank accounts case. Sources said that the NAB has asked chief minister Sindh to appear before its combined investigation team (CIT) and produce all record related to the Thatta and Dadu Sugar Mills case.
The joint investigation team (JIT) during its investigations in the fake accounts case found that while approving a very low bid for Thatta Sugar Mills against the advice of the then finance secretary, the then finance minister and current Chief Minister Sindh strongly recommended the summary in favour of Omni Group on the grounds that it will create jobs for local people.
A loan of Rs 895 million was also provided to the mills by the Sindh government. Shah also allegedly acted as a facilitator to the group by paying Rs 7.19 billion in form of subsidies to it. The NAB had summoned Shah at 11:00am on September 17, at its Karachi office in the aforesaid cases, but he did not appear.
