The Karachi Port handled 94,127 tonnes of cargo comprising 73,641 tonnes of import cargo and 20,486 tonnes of export cargo including 4,859 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargos of 73,641 tonnes comprised of 35,132 tonnes of containerised cargo; 9,460 tonnes of rock phosphate and 29,049 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 20,486 tonnes comprised of 20,486 tonnes of containerised cargo and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 4,859 containers comprising of 2,325 containers import and 2,534 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 738 of 20's and 793 of 40's loaded while 01 of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 360 of 20's and 287 of 40's loaded containers while 568 of 20's and 516 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were three ships namely Irenes Reliance, KMTC Dubai and Al Mahboobah carrying containers and chemical respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were three vessels viz. OOCL California, Nordmed and Oriental Cosmos carrying containers and oil tanker respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 147,019 tonnes comprising 88,858 tonnes of import cargo and 58,161 tonnes of export cargo including 2,989 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 88,858 tonnes includes 40,454 tonnes of coal; 18,166 tonnes of LNG; 2,700 tonnes of palm oil; 18,323 tonnes of chemical and 9,215 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 58,161 tonnes includes 4,938 tonnes of rice; 5,647 tonnes of cement and 47,576 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 2,989 containers comprising of 485 containers import and 2,504 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday. There were three ships namely MOL Gateway, STH Athens and Al Gattara carrying containers, coal and LNG respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while two more ships namely CSAV Tyndall and Ginga Marlin carrying containers and chemical respectively expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of nine vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, canola seeds, rice, coal, chemical, LNG and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. As many as seven vessels viz. W-Star, Johnny-P, African Lunde, Ocean Enterprise, Maran Gas Coronis, Nordstar Intrepid and NCC Maha carrying soyabean, coal, LNG, mogas and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were six ships viz. OOCL Washington, Maersk Brooklene, African Lunde, Johnny-P, Nordstar Intrepid and NCC Maha carrying containers, coal, soyabean, mogas and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Grains and Furtilizer Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday. There were two ships namely OOCL Washington and Maersk Brooklene carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday.
