The rupee gained slightly against the dollar on the money market on Friday in the process of trading activity, dealers said. The rupee recovered further 15 paisas versus the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 156.05 and Rs 156.10 respectively, they said.
INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee did not show any change in relation the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 155.80 and Rs 156.30 respectively, they added.
The rupee recovered Re.one in terms of the euro for buying and selling at Rs 171.50 and Rs 173.50 respectively, they added.
In the final Asian trade, the dollar drifted lower on Friday after central banks in Switzerland and the UK refrained from following the Federal Reserve in cutting rates, and risk appetites ebbed on caution about U.S-China trade talks.
Sterling hit a two-month high of $1.2566 against the greenback, after European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said he thought Brussels could reach a deal with Britain to leave the European Union.
The Swiss National Bank, the Bank of England and the Bank of Japan all left their policies unchanged on Thursday. Their currencies rose, with the Japanese yen and Swiss franc both adding almost 0.2%, supported by safe-haven buying.
The dollar was available against the Indian rupee at Rs 70.878, the greenback was at 4.176 in terms of the Malaysian ringgit and the US currency was at 7.085 versus the Chinese yuan.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee stayed unchanged on buying side while it lost 60-paisa on selling side in relation to the greenback in the local currency market on Friday.
According to the currency dealers, the dollar resumed on a healthy note and registered gain following interest on the part of buyers.
As a result, the dollar's selling rate increased from Rs 156.40 of Thursday to Rs 157.00 whereas its buying rate did not observe any change and finished at its opening level of Rs 156.00.
Similarly, the rupee remained depressed and depreciated its value against the pound sterling that was purchased and sold at Rs 193.60 and Rs 195.50 as compared to previous closing of Rs 193.50 and Rs 194.60, respectively, the dealers said.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The dollar gained 10 paisas against the rupee at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Friday.
The dollar opened at Rs 156.70(buying) and Rs 156.80(selling) against last rate of Rs 156.60(buying) and Rs 156.70(selling).
It closed at Rs 156.70(buying) and Rs 156.80(selling).
The buying and selling rates of one tola of gold were Rs. 86,500 (selling) and Rs 86,000(buying) in the local Sarafa (gold) markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
