Over 9,000 dengue cases have been reported from across the country, while around 17 people lost their lives during the current year. The outbreak of dengue continues to affect thousands of people across the country and a good number of dengue suspects are thronging to hospitals. The sources claimed that the number of dengue patients in Rawalpindi has surged to over 2000; while fresh cases of dengue reported in Karachi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan and other parts of the country.
Sources claimed that 2,200 cases were reported from Sindh, 2,150 from Punjab, 1,780 from Balochistan, 1,640 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 1,250 from the federal capital and 100 from Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
As many as nine casualties have been reported from Sindh, three each from Islamabad and Balochistan, and two deaths have been reported from Punjab, the sources said.
Special Assistant on National Health Services Dr Zafar Mirza said that treatment facilities are being ensured to the dengue patients in public sector hospitals. He said the dengue patients will be provided with free of cost treatment and diagnostic services at all the federal government's hospitals.
