Misbah-ul-Haq, head coach and chief selector, Pakistan Cricket Team on Wednesday urged all cricket playing nations to support restoring international cricket in Pakistan.
Speaking at a presser ahead of three ODI series with Sri Lanka, starting from September 27, 2019 in Karachi, he said that terrorism could be happened at anywhere and world is now facing similar situation what we have been suffering for almost two decades. Therefore, all cricket playing nations have to sit to ensure that cricket will not be hurt in any country, due to any mishap.
He said that we had a rich history in cricket and world cricket could not easily ignore Pakistan and urged all cricket playing nations to support Pakistan in restoring international matches in the country's grounds.
"Playing cricket in front of home crowd is always excited and this is an important moment for our cricketers."
He said that this was a special moment for us and hoped that the event would be ended peacefully and spectators would witness exciting cricket matches between Pakistan and Islanders.
"Although senior players are missing in Sri Lanka side, I communicated the team not to take them easy and play good cricket to win the matches," he said and dispelled the impression to persuade players for defensive cricket, saying that he never stopped players to play their natural game."
He said that he always backed Sarfaraz and the board would soon take decision regarding his captaincy for upcoming series and added that Sarfaraz was working hard in practice sessions to get his rhythm and hoped that he would perform well in this series.
Talking about the new domestic system, Misbah said that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) with a vision to improve quality of cricketers adopted this new model for domestic cricket structure, which was missing in past; adding that this new system would take time to yield results.
Commenting on the challenges as head coach and chief selector of Pakistan cricket team, he said that it was a big challenge but he accepted this new responsibility because he played for Pakistan for long and he knew everything but the thing that made the difference was to take right decision at right time.
"We always focus on batting department when we play with Australia in their conditions and in last series, we made them all-out only in one match hence now we are focusing to induct good pacers in our bowling attack for upcoming Test series with Australia because Test matches cannot be won without taking wickets."
Mishab said that the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy was playing on batting wickets which would help them finding new talent in its spinning and fast bowling departments.
While assuring to show zero-tolerance on fitness, chief selector said that the criteria to select any player for national team was not that he was performing well but his attitude and discipline were also up to the mark. "Mickey and Inzamam both did a great job and I will start from where they left the Pakistan cricket team," he said.
