Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar on Thursday asked the educated youths to come forward and take the reins of the nation.
He was addressing to the meeting of the Youth Parliament in City Council Hall in which a good number of youngsters participated.
Waseem rejected results of recent census saying the city's 30 million population was showed as only 14 million which reduced the city's share in the NFC Award and this would make it difficult to work out the education, health and other policies in future," mayor said.
It was also decided in the meeting to establish the Karachi Youth Committee with its office in the KMC Building to give suggestions on the solution of problems of Karachi and for the betterment and progress of the city.
The Youth Parliament during the proceedings unanimously approved resolution on end of curfew in occupied Kashmir and restoration of human rights and self determination to Kashmiris, strengthening of local bodies system and making the mayor powerful, providing of convenient public transport system, rehabilitation of KCR, start of mass transit projects without delay and ban on gutka and other drugs.
Mayor said no one could provide facilities to citizens without giving administrative, financial and political authorities to the mayor of the city. He said that he has been raising his voice for strength of municipal system and making continuous efforts so that the grass root level governance in the country and particularly in Sindh could be made strong.
The Mayor said that garbage littered increased the number of stray dogs that resulted in over hundred dog bites cases reported daily but we don't have the required vaccine.
The Sindh Government must take the garbage disposal issue seriously. The members of the Youth Assembly gave suggestions on solving the problems in their areas.
