Secretary Information PPP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chapter, Senator Robina Khalid has hinted at initiating of disciplinary action against party MPA Sahibzada Sanaullah for supporting violence against doctors protesting against the Regional Health Authority and District Health Authority (RHA & DHA) Bill.
Addressing a press conference along with president PPP Women Wing, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Nighat Yasmin Orakzai and Shazia Tehmas, she said that the parliamentary leader of the party has strongly condemned violence against doctors. However, she termed the venom of party MPA as his personal point of view, saying the party has nothing to do with it. She said that the matter has been brought in the notice of the party chairman, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari; he would have to issuing or noting issuing of notice to him. She said that the provincial government in the name of health reforms is introducing corporate culture in the hospitals of the province and now the patients have to pay for medical tests and x-rays.
The Senator said that PPP will not let the protesting doctors alone at this critical stage and will fully participate in their protest rallies. She also condemned the arrest of doctors under 3 MPO and demanded their immediate release and shifting of the injured doctor Zubair into a private room of the hospital.
Robina Khalid also welcomed the disqualification of the Deputy Speaker National Assembly, Qasim Khan Suri as member of the house by the Election Tribunal of the Balochistan High Court and said that the verdict has proved rigging the general elections. She said that there were more than 65,000 unverified polled votes in the NA-265 (Quetta-II). She said that the decision of the election tribunal has proved that the Deputy Speaker, who had banned the use of the word 'Selected in the House' as a selected by himself. She said that more similar decisions will come soon.
Speaking on the occasion, the provincial president, PPP women Wing, Nighat Yasmin Orakzai pledged that the party will not leave doctors alone in their struggle. She announced to file an adjournment motion against the use of force against the doctors.
Earlier, the office bearers of the Young Doctors Association (YDA) also addressed a press conference and announced continuation of their protest including boycott of performing duties at Out-Patient Department (OPD) in hospitals. They said that the provincial government is not honoring commitments made with the doctors' community in the aftermath of the torture of Senior Surgeon Assistant Professor Ziauddin.
