Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that the party nominates a candidate for chief minister and the provincial assembly elects him, and then it becomes the prerogative of the party and assembly to continue the chief minister whether he is in the jail or anywhere else. This he said on Saturday while addressing a press conference here at CM House in which Dr Bande Ali Leghari, a leading personality from Dadu announced to quit PTI and joined PPP.
To a question, the chief minister said that the party and the provincial assembly were empowered to continue their chief minister or get him resignation, in case he is arrested. "I am surprised to see that some of media friends always talk about my [CM] arrest," he said and asked why he would be arrested when he was cooperating NAB in its inquiry.
The CM said that the PPP had strength of 98 MPAs in the provincial assembly and after bye-election on two seats, Larkana and Johi, the party's strengthen would reach to 100. "The party and the assembly has the authority and power to take decision for continuation of the chief minister or remove him, no matter he is in jail or not," he said.
Murad Ali Shah said that the NAB's question was about the authority of giving tariff. "It is my subject and I can write a thesis on it," he said and added he had talked about the tariff in last four CCI meetings.
To a question about PM Imran Khan's speech in the general assembly, the chief minister said that he only spoke about Kashmiri people and Indian atrocities but he did not press the general assembly to hold plebiscite in the held-Kashmir. He also said the PM forgot other Muslims and their plight. Shah said that the speeches of Shaheed Bhutto and Shaheed Mohterma Benazir Bhutto in General Assembly were part of history and speak louder about their great statesmanship.
Replying to a question about water shortage in Dadu, the CM said that he was planning remodeling and lining of Dadu Canal to resolve water shortage issues. Sehwan Taluka was tail-end of dadu Canal which was also facing water shortage.
Dr Bande Ali Leghari, a notable from Dadu District, in presence of Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, MNA Rafiq Jamali, MPAs Fayaz Butt and Dr Shajila Leghari announced to quit PTI and expressed confidence in the leadership of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and announced to join PPP.
He welcomed him in the fold of PPP and said his joining would help in resolving public issues in Dadu District. The CM also congratulated Dr Bande Ali Laghari, his family members and friends for joining PPP.
