The Punjab government has finalized security arrangements for three-match T20 international series between Sri Lanka and Pakistan. The three matches are scheduled on October, 5, 7 and 9 here at Gaddafi Stadium. Sports Board Punjab (SBP) Director General Adnan Arshad Aulakh Tuesday chaired a high-profile meeting here at the National Hockey Stadium to review the arrangements of this series.
The meeting was attended among others by Deputy Commissioner Lahore Asghar Joyya, Director Admin Javed Chohan, Deputy Director Rauf Bajwa. It was decided that all the line departments and law enforcement agencies will ensure coordinated efforts for successful holding of three-match T20 international series.
Highlighting the importance of series, the SBP DG said negligence from duty would not be tolerated. He advised all concerned to maintain a well-organised security system such as the one used for PSL matches in the recent past when the series was accomplished smoothly with no major complaints. It may be added that the captain of the Sri Lankan Twenty20 squad, Dasun Shanaka, on arrival said he had no misgivings about returning to Pakistan after they played a Twenty20 international in Lahore in October 2017, their first since the 2009 attack on the team.
