The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has asked LPG marketing companies to disseminate new prices of LPG domestic cylinders for October in all the newspapers for information of general public.
The regulator advised all LPG marketing licensees to ensure publication of the prescribed LPG consumer price of 11.8-kg cylinder for 100 percent local and imported LPG in national press in accordance with rule 18 of LPG (Production and Distribution) Rules 2001 and furnish a copy of the same to the authority accordingly.
Those licensees who are not doing business (due to any reason) are strictly advised to inform the authority about their status on monthly basis. No reply can be considered as non-compliance with the authority's directives; therefore, companies (in their own interest) may refrain from non-compliance.
The authority has also requested all provincial governments/ local administrations to ensure the notified prices at LPG plants and at the premises of LPG distributors. Furthermore, it is informed that surprise inspections are being carried out by OGRA officers for checking compliance with the directives implementation of LPG rules.
The licensees are, therefore, advised to ensure strict compliance with notified LPG price and authority's above directions, besides ensuring that their distributors are not overcharging. In case of non-compliance, action shall be taken against LPG marketing companies under applicable rules/ laws.
As of June 30, 2018, there are 12 LPG producers and 168 LPG marketing companies operating in the country, having more than 5,000 authorized distributors. Furthermore, there are 18 operational LPG auto refuelling stations within the country.
