Younus Dagha, former Secretary Finance and one of the brilliant officers of Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS) has opted for early retirement, three months after being made OSD, well-informed sources told Business Recorder. Dagha served as Secretary Power, Secretary Commerce, before joining Finance Division as Secretary Finance. He reportedly had a very good equation with former Finance Minister, Asad Umar.
However, when Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh replaced Asad Umar, differences emerged between Dagha and Shaikh on economic policies, especially during negotiations with the IMF team for the $ 6 billion facility after which he was made OSD. Since then, Younus Dagha was resident in Karachi, his native city, and rarely came to Islamabad. Last month, he was in Islamabad with a group of friends.
When contacted, Younus Dagha confirmed that he has applied for early retirement to look after family matters in Karachi.
Asked why he has applied for early retirement, he replied "for personal reasons. Wanted to look after family matters in Karachi," said Dagha who will reach superannuation on April 23, 2022 which implies he is scheduled to retire after three years.
