Hafeezullah Khan Niazi, brother-in-law of Prime Minister Imran Khan, on Wednesday moved the Lahore High Court against a 30-day ban on his appearance in television channels. The petitioner said the ban imposed by Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) is illegal and violation fundamental rights as it put ban on him without giving him any opportunity of hearing. He also questioned the jurisdiction of the media regulatory body and said the Pemra could only regulate television channels and cable operators. He therefore, asked the court to set aside the impugned ban for being illegal and unconstitutional.
