Leader of the opposition in the Punjab Assembly Hamza Shehbaz, who is currently in London, submitted a petition in Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday to extend his stay in the country for 14 days.

The petition was filed on behalf of Shehbaz by his lawyer Azam Nazeer Tarar. In his plea, the Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) requested the LHC to give him another 14 days to stay in London as his newborn daughter will undergo a cardiac procedure. The petition said that the PML-N leader will return after his daughter recovers, local media reported.

The PML-N leader flew to London on February 3 after the high court allowed his name to be removed from the Exit Control List and allowed him to travel to the United Kingdom for 10 days.

Shehbaz is facing multiple National Accountability Bureau inquiries in the Ramzan Sugar Mills case as well as owning assets beyond means.
