ISLAMABAD: Multan regional office of Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) Wednesday seized illegal Direct-to-Home (DTH) and C-Line equipment during a raid conducted in various parts of District Muzaffargarh and Layyah.

The action was taken by the PEMRA after receiving the public complaints through its Complaints Cell and Pakistan Citizen Portal, a press release said.

During the raid, PEMRA staff confiscated 27 satellite receivers, five computers, one transmitter, one NOD and other instruments from Zia cable network, Yasir cable network, Yadgaar cable network, Azad cable network, Merit multimedia network and others operating in Muzaffargarh and Layyah districts.

PEMRA chairman appreciated the prompt action taken by the regional office and emphasised the implementation of Supreme Court orders regarding Indian content and channels.

Previously, the Supreme Court had constituted a committee of departments concerned to curb the illegal sale of Indian DTH and C-Line equipment.
