HYDERABAD: After receiving the water test report revealing activation of polio virus in Hyderabad, the Divisional Task Force on Polio has decided to launch four day massive polio eradication campaign in Hyderabad district from February 25, 2019.
According to sources of health department, the water sample was collected from Tulsidas Pumping Station of Water and Sanitation Agency and dispatched for testing from National Institute of Health (NIH)Islamabad.
The result of the water test was declared positive with prevalence of active polio virus, the sources informed. They added that test report has activated the Divisional Task Force on Polio and Polio Eradication Committee Hyderabad which decided to launch massive polio eradication campaign in Hyderabad City, Latifabad, Qasimabad and Hyderabad Rural Talukas of the district from February 25 to 28, 2019 with vaccination of 332263 under aged children.
The decision of immunizing 87206 under aged children of Kotri Taluka of Jamshoro district during the campaign has also been made by the divisional administration of Hyderabad, the sources informed.
