Sridevi’s saree being auctioned for charity on her first death anniversary
Just ahead of first death anniversary of legendary actor Sridevi on February 24, her husband Boney Kapoor has decided to put her favorite handwoven kota saree up for auction to raise funds for a charity.
The saree's auction is being hosted on Parisera, India’s handcrafted products website. The proceeds from the auction will be shared with Concern India Foundation that helps under-privileged women, children and the differently-abled in the fields of education, health and community development.
The bidding, already under way, began at Rs 40,000, and has touched Rs 1,30,000, Indian media reported. The official website describes Sridevi's sari as ‘constant reminder of her roots’. It writes, “Sridevi's style has evolved since her early days in the film industry. But, the six yards has been a constant reminder of her roots”.
