Samsung-TEVTA courses attract great response from students
LAHORE: Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., a global market leader, has collaborated with Technical Education & Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) to offer specialized courses at the new training labs for; Mobile phones, Home appliances, Airconditioner/Refrigerators and Washing Machine/Microwaves in Lahore. These technology courses are drawing an overwhelming response from students.
The institution had targeted to register 200 students for these courses, whereas the actual registration figures exceeded 462 students by December 2012. More than 76 students have enrolled in the Mobile phones division. The Televisions division now comprises of over 75 students. Students registering for the Refrigerator and Airconditioners course are now more than 188. While the Washing Machine & Microwave oven division has attracted 123 students.
Experts from Samsung have so far completed the second training session to update the TEVTA teaching faculty on new technologies created by Samsung in; Televisions, Refrigerators, Air-conditioners, Washing machines and Microwave ovens. These valuable training sessions were conducted by Samsung’s Head of Customer Services – Abdul Hai and Samsung’s Head of Corporate Marketing - Saad-ul-Hasan.
The TEVTA faculty is thus trained to provide ‘hands-on’ lab training to students for gaining necessary experience and technical skills and seek employment opportunities in this innovative industry. TEVTA’s objectives are focused on establishing a productive workforce by developing standardized technical education and vocational training to be at par with globally competitive workforces.
The Managing Director of Samsung EC Pakistan Pvt. Ltd. – John Park commented; “We have also provided electronic products to TEVTA exclusively for educational and training purposes. Our aim is to provide regular assistance by training the faculty at TEVTA, while we also provide detailed technical training manuals for the staff to enrich the teaching experience.”
