Broadband users including 3G, 4G cross 65mn mark
ISLAMABAD: The number of broadband users including 3G and 4G in Pakistan has reached 65.13 million by end January 2019 as compared to 63.77 million by December last year, registering addition of 1.36 million new such subscribers in one month.
Number of mobile phone users in Pakistan also crossed 155.4 million by end-January as compared to 153.99 million by December 2018.
Statistics issued by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) on Monday showed that 3G and 4G users (mobile broadband) have made a major contribution in overall subscription as its total number reached 63 million till January 2019 as compared to 61.61 million by December last.
Tele-density for cellular mobile increased to 74.48 per cent and for broadband subscribers reached 31.19 per cent by January 2019.
As per details, Jazz's total count for 3G users stood at 13.72
million by end-January as compared to 13.79 million by end-December 2O18, registering a decrease. Jazz 4G user numbers jumped from 7.053 million by December last to 7.606 million by January 2019.
Zong 3G subscribers decreased from 8.692 million by December last to 8.660 million by January 2019 while number of 4G users jumped from 9.86 million by December last to 10.443 million by January this year.
The number of 3G users of Telenor network decreased from 9.136 million by December to 8.917 million by January 2019. The number of 4G users jumped from 4.732 million by December last to 5.227 million by January this year.
Ufone added 78,366 3G users on its network during one month as total reached 8.418 million as compared to 8.339 million by December 2018.
The data further showed that the number of broadband subscribers by technology included DSL 16,12,490, HFC 58,573, Wimax 54,733, EvDO 3,01,745, FTTH 87,763 and Mobile Broadband 63 million users.
