Automobile maker Mercedes-Benz has yet again impressed people by showing off its first ever all-electric race car.

In the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, luxury automaker Mercedes-Benz recently unveiled its first ever all-electric race car dubbed the EQ Silver Arrow 01 and will be used to compete in electric vehicle (EV) racing series Formula E beginning later this year.

As detailed by Engadget, the car will pump out to 340 horsepower during qualifier for the Formula E in FanBoost mode and hit from 0 to 62mph in only 2.7 seconds. The 2,000 pounds car is packed with a 52kWh battery that is meant to keep it going throughout the entire race.

“Formula E is going to be a completely new playing field for us,” Toto Wolff, the head of Mercedes-Benz Motorsport said. “But we are looking forward to the challenge of demonstrating the performance of our intelligent battery-electric drives in motorsport and of giving a positive boost to the EQ brand.”

Formula E, in contrast to Formula 1 that is racing of gas-powered motor vehicles, is racing for all-electric vehicles. Other Formula E participants include more renowned automakers including BMW, Audi, Jaguar, Nissan, and Nio, with Porsche too expected to join the series too, reported The Verge.
