ISLAMABAD: The embassy of Pakistan in United Arab Emirates has offered assistance to the Oscar winner Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy to launch a support project for the victims of acid attacks.
The proposal envisages collaboration with another initiative titled 'AHAN - Aik Hunar Aik Nagar' aimed at emancipation of women and providing them life sustainability, Ambassador to UAE Jamil Ahmed Khan told APP.
The Ambassador said the victims would be supported through the household and cottage industry and then linking it to the UAE markets.
"By doing so, we can bring sustainability in the life of victims," he said.
Ambassador Jamil said Sharmeen's Oscar-winning documentary is a demonstration of zeal for the empowerment of women in Pakistan.
He congratulated Sharmeen on behalf of the Pakistani community and lauded her consistent efforts in producing the documentary.
"She has brought a pride to the Pakistani people and everyone else involved in the voluntary work," the Ambassador remarked.
Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy in an email thanked Ambassador Jamil Ahmed Khan for his assistance in sending a team of plastic surgeons from the UAE to carry out surgery of the victims of acid attacks in Pakistan.
