NA body recommends deputing inquiry Officer to decide the MNA privilege case

ISLAMABAD: National Assembly’s non Ministerial Standing Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privilege Thursday recommended deputing inquiry Officer to decide the privilege motion of MNA’s breach of privilege case.

The NA body discussed the question of Privilege of MNA Abid Raza, regarding implicating the Member in a false politically motivated case in Kakarali Police Station, Gujrat by registering a fabricated FIR against him, and alleged attempt by Mian Tahir Bashir, SP, Headquarters and Mian Muhammad Arshad, DSP along with police force to forcibly occupy his property.

The meeting of the Standing committee was held here at Parliament House, under the Chairmanship of Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon, MNA.

The committee also discussed the Question of Privilege of MNA Faheem Khan, regarding alleged misbehavior and derogatory remarks of Maqsood Raza, SHO and Imdad Khawaja, Investigation Officer, Police Station Defence, Karachi.

The Committee recommended for suspension of both the Officers and directed to submit report thereof in its next meeting.

The Question of Privilege of MNA Ali Nawaz Shah, regarding non-attending telephone calls of the Member by the Secretaries, Revenue, Local Government, Education, Health and Agriculture and General Manager, SSGCL, Karachi and harassment of voters by the Deputy Commissioner, Mirpurkhas and Superintendent of Police, Mirpurkhas was discussed and deferred due non presence of the mover.

Moreover, it was decided in the meeting that the next meeting of the same Committee will be held on March 20.

The Committee also decided that failing to attend the telephone calls and failing to take immediate action to redress the grievances of the people of their Constituencies by public servants, would be considered a serious breach of privilege of the Members of National Assembly.

MNAs including , Ali Wazir, Sardar Zulfiqar, Ali Khan Dullah, Chaudhry Armaghan Subhani, Mohsin Nawaz Ranjha, Nawab Sher, Rana Sana Ullah Khan, Khurram Shahzad, Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry , Syed Imran Ahmad Shah, Rai Muhammad Murtaza Iqbal, Mian Muhammad Shafiq , Syed Murtaza Mahmud , Muhammad Amjad Farooq Khan Khosa, Ms. Shagufta Jumani, Faheem Khan and Ch. Abid Raza, attended the meeting.
