Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who is working towards a feature that focuses on Facebook’s privacy concerns, has said in a recent interview that he aims to build a machine through which it can read users’ thoughts.

In a recent interview at Harvard University, Zuckerberg said that Facebook aims to builds a device that can one day allow people to navigate menus or even type using their minds only, reported Wired.

When questioned about privacy invasion and ethical implications of such a mind-reading device, Zuckerberg stated that ‘presumably, this would be something that someone would choose to use a product’.

The concept for this device originates from the fact that smart objects can communicate with one another, but not with the brain. The solution would be a ‘shower-cap-looking device’ that will read the signals in the brain and use them to unlock the data streams of thoughts.

Facebook’s mind-reading device is not a relatively new option, it has been testing such a ‘brain-computer interface’ for a few years. Back in 2017, the firm also showed off what it referred to as a ‘brain mouse’ – a non-invasive brain interface that could one day let users control AR applications, reported Futurism.
