NA body for lifting ban on construction of new govt accommodations

ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Standing Committee on Housing and Works Monday directed the ministry to take up matter regarding lifting of ban on construction of new government residential accommodations for the federal government employees with the prime minister office.

The committee made these directions during its 3rd meeting held here at the Parliament House under the Chairmanship of Engineer Muhammad Najeeb Haroon.

The committee was briefed in detail about the working of Ministry of Housing and Woks, Estate Office, Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation and Naya Pakistan Program, respectively.

The committee also directed the ministry to provide forensic report on the incident happened at Qasr-e-Naz, Karachi, with a family belonging to Quetta.

The committee directed the housing and works secretary, to look into the issue regarding evacuation of government servants from the Gulshan-e-Jinnah, Federal Lodges, Islamabad and find some doable solution thereupon.

The committee also took briefing from the Task Force on Naya Pakistan Housing Program chairman.

He told that this project would help providing shelter to low income families.

Besides, the Minister for Housing and Works, the meeting was also attended by Malik Anwar Taj, Malik Karamat Ali Khokhar, Nafeesa Inayatullah Khan Khattak, WajihaAkram, Iqbal Muhammad Ali Khan, Chaudhry Abid Raza, Syed IftikharUl Hassan, Azhar Qayyum Nahra, Tahira Aurangzeb, Seema Mohiuddin Jameeli, Abid Hussain Bhayo, Syed Agha Rafiullah and Munir Khan Orakzai.

The senior officers of the Ministry of Housing and Works, Estate Office, Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation, Pakistan Public Works Department and Task Force on Naya Pakistan Housing Program chairman were also present in the meeting.
