ADC warns action against substandard edible oil, ghee distributors
KARACHI: Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Sukkur, Ali Raza Ansari on Tuesday warned strict action against the wholesale dealers and distributors for selling substandard edible oil and ghee.
Speaking in a meeting held with traders and oil wholesalers here at DC office, he said those traders who found involved in selling substandard edibles would be taken to task within two months grace period.
The ADC asked oil wholesalers and distributors to seek standardized product from millers and check sale of substandard food items.
Coordinator, food fortification Programme, Nazia Soomro explained requirements and standards for refining, processing and fortification of edible oil and ghee.
She also shared progress and way forward to address vitamin A and D deficiencies through adequate fortification of oil and ghee.
The ADC said that all wholesalers and distributors should stop the sale of such oil as soon as possible as after the grace period of two months, a strict action will be taken against them.
Assistant Commissioner Sukkur, food department representatives, health department representatives, traders and food fortification programme attended the meeting.
