FBR recovers Rs1.75bn from non-filers
KARACHI: All modalities are finalized and the refunds payment through promissory notes would be started by next month said chairman FBR.
Addressing to business community at FPCCI, he said revenue shortfall was presently roaming around Rs220 billion.
He restrains field formation of FBR for conducting raids on business premises and residence of the businessmen.
Chairman FBR Dr. Jahanzeb said the board was developing an automated system to minimize man—to—man interaction at tax offices in order to eliminate harassment issues.
He said that FBR was now amalgamating all digital data including NADRA data with its system to identify potential taxpayers, who made frequent visits, purchased luxury cars and paying hefty education fee of their children but still remained out of tax ambit.
He apprised that FBR had recovered Rs. 1.75 billion out of Rs. 3 billion tax demand by issuing notices to 6000 non-filers, identified through digital data and added that this automated system, which would fully be enforced in next two years, would help FBR entering into next generation of tax collection for the country.
