PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Monday informed that the provincial government has completed 99 megawatt electricity schemes while 215 megawatt projects would be completed by the end of 2022.

Advisor to the Chief Minister Ziaullah Bangash, at the end of debate on ‘Loadshedding of Electricity and Gas’, informed the House that the government had successfully completed 99 megawatt schemes of past government and started different other schemes of 215 megawatt in different area out of which several are near to completion.

He said the provincial government has received Rs20 billion under head of electricity net profit and Rs36 billion were outstanding with the federal government.

He told the House oil production in KP has increased from 28000 Barrel Per Month to 50000.

He suggested the Speaker Mushtaq Ghani to invite the federal Minister for Power Division Omar Ayub Khan and other concerned authorities to brief them in this regard.

The Speaker assured the House that federal minister would be invited for briefing.

Earlier, the Opposition criticized the provincial government over gas and power crisis in the province.

Inayatullah Khan of Jamat Islami said Prime Minister Imran Khan had constituted committee in this regard but still there was not progress.

He said KP was generating electricity more than its demand but still subjected to massive power outage.

Sanullah of PPP said people of his constituency were facing 22-hour power loadshedding despite paying heavy amount of bills.

Khushdil Khan Advocate of ANP noted KP province was generating 5000 megawatt electricity against the demand of 3,000 MW but still facing power crises.

He questioned that under which law, the additional amount was being charged from consumers in electricity bills under the head of loans, adding the masses were already paying huge taxes monthly in different utility bills.

He demanded withdrawal of all undue taxes in utility bills especially in electricity.

Munawar Khan of MMA said that it was not the problem of opposition members but the treasury benches were equally supporting them.

Bahadar Khan of ANP, Zafar Azam of MMA, Jamshed Mohmand of PML-N, Faisal Zeb, Waqar Ahmad Khan and Salahuddin of ANP and Hidayat Rehman MMA also took part in the debate.

Meanwhile, The Khyber Pakhtukhwa Urban Mass Transit (Amendment) Bill, 2019 was adopted by the House.

The House unanimously passed a resolution moved by Ayesha Bano of PTI, stating children bellow the age of 12-year should not be allowed to be seated in front seat of vehicles as it could cause serious harm to them in case of accident.
