Google has notified users that it will be killing its Inbox app after two weeks and they should instead simply switch to regular Gmail, a news that didn’t go well with its dedicated users.

Anyone who logged into Google’s Inbox app lately was given a pop-up notification informing to switch to Gmail as Google Inbox will be killed off within 15 days after April 2, 2019; the same day when it kills the Google+.

Though the move was first announced last year, Google did not specify the date until now. In the pop-up notification, Google included a link to the Gmail app and mentioned that the users can find their ‘favorite Inbox features’ in the Gmail app where their messages are already waiting for them.

As explained by Mashable, Inbox and the regular Gmail app functioned similarly but to different audiences. Inbox was more focused into productivity-minded users by giving people some handy ways to clean up their inboxes and not spend too much time drafting a response – a feature that gave birth to Gmail’s automated reply. Also, Inbox also allowed users to sort similar messages into ‘bundles’, a feature that is not yet in Gmail.

However, the news of Inbox’s death certainly did upset some Inbox users and they took to the micro-blogging site Twitter to express their sorrows.
