Ramiz Raja ‘shocked’ over Shoaib Malik’s statement after losing ODI match
Expressing his dismay over Pakistan’s last night drubbing at the hands of Australia in the ongoing One Day Internationals (ODI) series, former cricketer-turned-commentator Ramiz Raja has been shocked over series captain Shoaib Malik's statement that winning or losing 'doesn’t make any difference'.
“I couldn’t believe it, because if we don’t care about the result, then why are we playing the series at the first place. And if we don’t tell our youngsters that their fifty and hundred is meaningless, if it doesn’t contribute in the team’s success then how will we create new champions,” questioned Raja, at Ramiz Speaks.
During the post match presentation, Malik said that the series is all about testing the bench strength. “It's not about winning the series, it's about testing our bench strength," said Pakistan captain for the series, Malik.
Raja, however, praised wicketkeeper batsman Mohammad Rizwan for hitting his maiden ODI century against Australia last night and said Rizwan is a good team player and could serve Pakistan well in the future.
With the five-ODI series 2-0 in favour of Australia, Pakistan would need to win the third ODI at Abu Dhabi on March 27, to remain alive in the series.
