Another round of anti-polio campaign begins in Hyderabad
HYDERABAD: Another round of polio eradication campaign began in all four talukas of Hyderabad district from Monday owing to reports of high number of refusal cases.
The Commissioner Hyderabad Muhammad Abbas Baloch inaugurated the campaign by immunizing anti-polio drops to children of under five years age here at C.D.F. Hospital Hyderabad City.
Accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad Syed Aijaz Ali shah, the Commissioner while talking to media persons said he kicked off three day long campaign from Hyderabad city because of reports of high numbers of refusal cases.
He said the divisional and district administrations were making all out efforts to motivate the parents particularly those who were refusing to vaccinate their under aged children mainly due to lack of awareness as well illiteracy.
About polio virus, the Commissioner maintained that no case of polio has so far been reported from any part of Hyderabad district however after receiving the water test report of Tulsi Da Pumping Station of Hyderabad City, the administration has geared up the efforts to further improve the routine immunization against polio.
He said many health issues can be resolved through mass awareness campaign so that the people could take preventive measures against the health issues.
Meanwhile, the district focal person on Polio Dr. Masood Jaferi has informed that during three day campaign, a total of 3,32,263 children under the age of five years would be vaccinated against polio by one thousand mobile vaccination teams in 54 union councils of Hyderabad district.
Besides, anti-polio vaccination will also be carried out at 117 fixed points, 23 transit points and 67 health facility centres of the district. He informed that a total of 1048 lady health workers, 83 doctors and 12 supervisors are taking part in this campaign.
