Urmila Matondkar likely to contest Indian general elections 2019

Veteran Bollywood actor Urmila Matondkar is likely to join the Indian political party Congress and contest the polls from north Mumbai.

The actress is widely considered in the reckoning for a Congress nomination from Mumbai North constituency. However, Congress spokespersons in Mumbai and Matondkar’s family members declined to comment. Some political sources reveal that her name is at ‘an advanced stage of consideration by the party leadership’ and that the final decision could be announced shortly, Hindustan Times reported.

Reportedly, Urmila will released an official statement about her political affiliation in the next two or three days.

It’s a common practice when the Indian general elections will be fought, political parties go all out to woo Bollywood celebrities and use their influence over the public to garner votes.

Earlier, many Bollywood celebrities including Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, Kirron Kher, Rajinikanth and Sanjay Dutt among others have participated in many political campaigns.
