KARACHI: A three-day Textile Asia International Trade Fair-2019 began here on Monday at Expo Centre Karachi (ECK).

All six halls of the ECK are full to their capacity with big participation of Chinese exporters of textile machinery and equipment.

Turkish exhibitors have also participated this bi-annual textile fair.

It has housed the stalls of textile, garment, embroidery, digital printing machinery and chemical and allied services. More than 1,000 international brands from 27 countries including from Austria, China, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Korea, Japan, Turkey, United Kingdom and United States of America have been exhibited.

Secretary, Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), Muhammad Sualeh Ahmed Faruqui and Chief Coordinator, Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (SZ) Shaikh Mohamamd Shafiq inaugurated the exhibition.

TDAP Secretary said the holding of Textile Asia was beneficial to the textile industry. The textile sector particularly local textile industry would be benefited from the modern machinery exhibited here.

This platform would also provide opportunities to small and medium entrepreneurs who could not travel frequently for purchasing of machineries.

Through this expo, they would avail opportunity to modernize garment machineries to enhance their production capacity, he said.

PHMA's Chief Coordinator said the focus of this trade fair was value addition in textile industry to increase the export of Pakistan’s value added textile and garment products. And , also would act as a platform to build business communication between the countries.

Khursheed Nizam from e-Commerce Gateway said the trade exhibition was expected to witness more than 2,000 foreign delegates and around 65,000 local visitors from trade and corporate sectors.

When comments sought from the Chinese exhibitors, the majority was satisfied with the arrangements at the exhibition and expected good business.
