Govt forms committee to facilitate Sikh pilgrims after Kartarpur Corridor opens
Prime Minister Imran Khan ordered on Wednesday the formation of a 10-member Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (PSGPC) to facilitate Sikh pilgrims after the opening of the Kartarpur Corridor.
Speaking to the media, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry announced that this was decided by the PM in the federal cabinet meeting, local media reported. Following orders, the federal government has constituted the PSGPC. The minister further said that the Kartarpur shrine will be open to Sikh pilgrims by November this year.
The premier performed the groundbreaking of the Kartarpur Corridor last year, and since then Pakistan and India have had two meetings regarding the corridor. The first meeting was held at Wagah-Attari border earlier in March. The second meeting was held between the technical experts from both the neighbors to finalize the Kartarpur Corridor alignment at zero point.
The next meeting between the two countries is scheduled to be held in April.
