LONDON: British wholesale gas prices were mixed on Thursday morning on revised weather forecasts for the next couple of days and next week.

* Gas for day-ahead delivery declined by 0.20 pence to 33.20 pence per therm at 0846 GMT.

* UK average temperature forecasts were revised higher on Thursday, which could lead to lower gas demand.

* Temperatures on Thursday and Friday were forecast to be 0.6 degrees Celsius and 3.3C higher, respectively, than previously expected, according to Refintiv weather data.

* However, weekend temperatures were expected to be 0.2C lower than forecast earlier.

* Working days next week contract up 1.25 pence at 33.00 p/therm.

* The UK gas system was 10.5 million cubic metres (mcm) oversupplied, with demand forecast at 307.6 mcm and supply at 318.1 mcm, according to National Grid.

* Liquefied natural gas send-out remains strong, with more LNG tankers expected to unload in Britain this month.

* EU carbon permit prices continued to gain ground on Thursday, rising to its highest in a nearly a month, up 0.65 euro at 23.81 euros a tonne.

* In the Dutch gas market, the day-ahead price  inched up by 0.05 euro to 14.50 euros per megawatt hour (MWh).

* The May price edged up by 0.09 euro to 14.32 euros/MWh.
