ISLAMABAD: Asad Qaiser, Speaker National Assembly has embarked to attend 140th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) being held from 6-10 April 2019 at Doha, Qatar, today (Friday).
The Speaker National Assembly will lead the Parliamentary Delegation comprising MNAs; Ms. Shazia Jannat Marri, Sardar Muhammad Khan Laghari, Agha Hassan Baloch, Mr. Arbab Sher Ali, Rana Tanveer Hussain and Mr. Tahir Hussain, Secretary National Assembly/Member ASGP.
The members of the delegation will participate in the Assembly of the IPU and its related meetings. They will also meet their counterparts on sidelines of the Assembly from 159 countries and exchange views and experiences.
All IPU statutory bodies, including the Governing Council, Standing Committees, Committees on the Human Rights of Parliamentarians and on Middle East Questions, as well as the Forum of Women Parliamentarians and the Forum of Young MPs, will meet on this occasion.
Theme of the General Debate is “Parliaments as platforms to enhance education for peace, security and the rule of law”.
