KARACHI: Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) has sealed various shops which were being used as auto showrooms in the city's Jamshed Town.
The authority has placed notices on the doors of dozens of shops saying the structures have been built on residential plots, whereon no commercial activity is allowed.
A notice placed on one of the doors of a shop near Islamia College reads, " The premise of subject plot is hereby sealed by the order of competent authority under section 7-A of SBCA 1979-82 (Amendment up to date) on account of unauthorised conversion of residential plot into commercial activity/ showroom without any appropriate permission from the competent authority."
It further said, If the seal is found tempered/ broken or the said premises are trespassed by any person/ persons he then shall be punished under section 19 and other actions permissible under the law.
Meanwhile, over a dozen showroom owners gathered outside the market to evolve strategy against the government move.
Meanwhile citizens also complained that the showroom owners are used to park a number of vehicles on the both sides of roads at various city roads, creating hardships for the commuters to make there ways.
