There is zero tolerance against gas theft and line losses: Omar Ayub Khan
ISLAMABAD: Petroleum Minister Omar Ayub Khan on Tuesday said there is zero tolerance against gas theft and line losses.
He was briefing to the petroleum division where Nadeem Babar, Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) was also present.
Secretary for Petroleum Asad Hayyaudin briefed Minister about oil and gas exploration and production projects. He also updated about Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) covenants, demand of petroleum products, local refineries and their production. Federal Secretary also briefed about functioning of the division and its attached companies.
Khan added that a special task force should be chalked out .This task force should take data from both gas companies regarding gas theft cases.
He said that protection of national resources is priority of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGC).
Nadeem Babar, SAPM added that management of gas companies shall be preemptive in curtailing the line losses.
He also said that in a bid to achieve self-sufficiency in the energy sector, Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDCL) and Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) should devised a strategy to reinvigorate oil and gas exploration activities under which around new blocks will be auctioned to award licenses to interested E&P companies.
The briefing was attended by all senior officers of Petroleum Division.
