KARACHI: Pakistan Customs on Thursday destroyed huge quantity smuggled goods including narcotics, liquor and more at Gadap town in Karachi.
Items destroyed were narcotics substances (8,752 kg), Narcotics precursor (Acetic Anhydride) (21,700 kg), liquor (58,784 bottles/cans), cigarettes (1,164,000 sticks), Gutka (8,520,704 pouches), betel nuts (577 tons) and misc goods (2000 kg).
Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) member (Custom-Operations) Doctor Jawwad Uwais Agha graced the event as chief guest. Foreign Dignitaries, Representatives of the Diplomatic Corps, Head of Law Enforcement Agencies, Senior Government Servants, citizens and representatives of the business community were also present.
The chief guest extolled effort of the organisation in effecting seizures and called upon the officers and staff of MCC to rid society of the narcotics menace and remain vigilant to the ever-changing trends of smuggling.
