Xiaomi patents bizarre, reverse notch for new smartphone design
Following the introduction of notch-styled smartphones two years ago, smartphone manufacturers have been trying various unique ways to maximize the screen-to-body ratio. Xiaomi has now taken a new approach by totally reversing the notch for its new smartphone.
Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has recently patented a smartphone design with an inverted and ‘reverse’ notch, which is actually a bump sticking out from the top of the device, featuring a dual camera and receiver, reported LetsGoDigital.
Xiaomi patents odd smartphone designs with selfie cameras at screen’s bottom
The patent shows three various model designs, all of them having a protruding notch. The three designs have some differences such as in the placement of the front camera and receiver being either close or farther apart. The phone also consists of dual cameras on the rear.
Xiaomi seems to be experimenting with new, unique smartphone designs and earlier, it also patented a smartphone having a selfie camera at the display’s bottom. It is for us to see if this device ever makes it out of patent into real-life.
