KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday gave the last ultimatum to the lawyers of former senior superintend of police (SSP) Rao Anwar in a petition seeking dismissal of his bail in Naqeebullah Mehsud murder case.

A two-member bench of the SHC, headed by Justice Aftab Ahmed Gorar, heard a petition filed by Naqeeb Mehsud’s father. The family members of Mehsud reached SHC but former SSP did not appear.

The counsel of Rao told the court that his client could not appeared as he need more time.

Mehsud’s counsel Salahuddin Pahnwar contented that witnesses of the case were being threatened, so the bail of Rao Anwar and others be dismissed and they should be sent to prison.

The court gave final ultimatum to lawyers and directed them to submit their arguments on 14 May.  The ATC  had granted bail to former SSP and others.

After the hearing, talking to media, Muhammad Khan Mehsud, father of Naqeeb Mehsud, said that Sindh police had declared Rao Anwar as accused but he was still free.  "I travel hundreds of kilometres for the justice with the children of Naqeeb Mehsud," he said.
