Jordan issues new tender to buy 120,000 tonnes of wheat
HAMBURG: Jordan's state grain buyer has issued an international tender to buy 120,000 tonnes of milling wheat which can be sourced from optional origins, European traders said on Monday.
The tender deadline is Tuesday, May 7.
Traders had expected a new tender after Jordan made no purchase in its previous tender on April 30, when only two trading houses participated.
Jordan has faced difficulties buying wheat and barley in tenders in past months after changed terms for quality specifications and payment reduced participation by international trading houses.
Other international wheat tenders from Jordan also ended without purchases on April 23, April 16 and April 9. Jordan's last reported wheat tender was 60,000 tonnes on April 2.
The new wheat tender seeks shipment in a range of possible combinations in 60,000 tonne consignments. Possible shipment periods are Sept. 16-30, Oct. 1-15 and Oct. 16-31.
