Azhar Ali ‘annoyed’ with Pakistan’s unpredictability

Pakistan's former limited-overs captain Azhar Ali has said he is not a big fan of the ‘unpredictable’ tag given to his side, but admitted that they deserve it due to their ability to ‘bounce back.’

“It’s annoying for us to keep being unpredictable, but it’s true,” Azhar told ICC. The middle order batsman, who has retired from limited overs cricket and now only plays Test cricket, said that Pakistan have performed well in World Cups and was optimistic that the upcoming tournament too would be ‘a special one.’

“We know we can bounce back from anywhere and that makes us dangerous. We have done well in World Cups, even though no-one rates us that highly in the build-up,” said Azhar.

Pakistan, at the moment, are in England for a limited-overs series, which Azhar believes could help his side get used to the English conditions and prove beneficial during the ICC World Cup 2019.

“Wherever you’re playing, if you have information and experience of playing in the conditions. It will benefit Pakistan a lot. But all ten teams have potential to win games and we’ll have to see what kind of capability they have,” he added.

Pakistan is set to clash with hosts England in the second ODI of the five match series on Saturday. The first ODI ended in no result after it was abandoned due to rain.
