KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) Sindh chapter acting president Haleem Adil Sheikh has said at least 15000 cases of HIV/AIDS have already been detected in Sindh which show that the rulers of Sindh instead of giving masses roti, kapra and makan have given them dreaded diseases including AIDS.

Talking to media at Sindh Assembly on Monday, he said the issue of spread of AIDS is very serious. He said previous day he had visited Ratodero, a constituency of Shaheed Bhutto and Shaheed Muhtarma Benazir Bhutto, where no basic healthcare facilities were present.

He said if proper screening is made there are many more undetected cases. He said the presently detected cases are just tip of the iceberg.

He said as the government hospitals are given to NGOs on contract, and people visit substandard private medical centers and quacks, which results in spread of AIDS and other diseases.

He said not only Dr Ghanghro is solely responsible for this issue but people pricking nose and ears and performing circumcision with contaminated instruments are also responsible for AIDS. He said fake blood banks are also spreading diseases and also trans-genders spread this disease.

He said previous day on Sunday the hospital of Ratodero was closed. He asked why the government of Sindh is not passing a law that no citizen should fall ill on Sundays.

He said the PPP rulers are responsible for deaths of innocent people. He said the rulers are hiding the real facts and figures of HIV/AIDS. He said we demand AIDS screening at basic health unit level.

He said we demand that an AIDS treatment center would also be opened in Ratodero.

He said the health department Sindh is involved in corruption of Rs. 22 billion. He said with this sort of corruption it is natural that diseases including AIDS would spread amongst poor masses. He said corruption money is being deposited in accounts of Falooda wall men.

He said the Prime Minister Imran Khan has talked to Sindh governor and we will work on screening.

He said if Sindh rulers could do they would have even banned people to breathe without paying bribe.

He said the matters related to Sindh police act are fishy.

He said we are not giving minutes of meeting. He said we will not disobey court orders, but the government wants to do so.

He said if the government of Sindh wants to appoint officers like Rao Anwar, Ghulam Haider Jamali and Dr Farrukh we will oppose it.

We do not want powers for a single person who recruits his own henchmen. He said the IGP is answerable to Sindh government but the rulers are not authorized to recruit SSPs.

He said we want a pro-people police to check crime. He said we are allies of MQM of today and not MQM of May 12.
