PARIS: The euro is being weakened by clashing political and economic policies in the euro zone economic bloc, French finance minister Bruno Le Maire told France Info radio on Wednesday.
"We need more convergence and a euro zone budget. You cannot have a single currency and economic policies which all go off on a tangent," he said, adding that nationalist parties' "each for himself" attitude could not guarantee a future for the euro.
"The euro gives us stability, it protects our economy and protects us in our struggle against inflation," added Le Maire.
