Fake accounts case: NAB arrests Asif Ali Zardari as IHC rejects bail plea
A team of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested on Monday former president and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari in fake accounts case.
The NAB team arrived at Zardari House following a Islamabad High Court bench comprising Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Moshin Akhtar Kayani rejected a plea by Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpur seeking an extension in their interim bail in the case.
The two-member bench announced the verdict it had reserved earlier the same day, local media reported. The former president and his sister had earlier appeared before the court and left before the bench announced its decision.
NAB already obtained arrest warrants of the former president last week. The bureau team reached the residence of the PPP co-chairman along with a team of police personnel, including female officials.
The siblings now have the option to appeal against the judgement in the Supreme Court.
