EU 2018/19 wheat exports revised up, first 2019/20 data delayed
PARIS: European Union soft wheat exports are estimated at 20.6 million tonnes in the 2018/19 season that ended on June 30, European Commission data showed on Monday, revising upwards an initial estimate of 20.3 million issued last week.
The new estimate was still below the 21 million tonnes of soft wheat exported in the 2017/18 season, the data showed.
EU barley exports for 2018/19 were revised up to 4.6 million tonnes from 4.35 million tonnes estimated initially, but still well below the 5.7 million tonnes in 2017/18.
For maize, 2018/19 EU imports were revised up to 23.7 million tonnes against 23.6 million tonnes estimated initially and compared with 17.7 million tonnes in 2017/18.
Figures for 2018/19 EU oilseed imports were little changed from initial data.
Publication of the first weekly cereal and oilseed export/import figures for the start of the 2019/20 season has been delayed until July 15, the Commission said without elaborating.
