Pakistan all rounder Imad Wasim has dismissed reports of ‘groupings’ in the national cricket team, saying that he ‘wouldn’t play’ for the team if there is any such thing.

“If there were groupings in the team, I wouldn't play and we all play for Pakistan. There was a lot of talk after the match versus India but the media should be more careful, there is no such thing in the team,” said Imad at a press conference.

Talking about the scuffles that took place among the fans of Pakistan, Afghanistan during their World Cup match, Imad said that he was disappointed over the incident and urged spectators to refrain from getting into fights.

“Things happen sometimes on the field during the heat of the moment but I say this to all spectators, whether it's India and Pakistan or Afghanistan and Pakistan, there is no need to fight. One team will win and the other will lose.”

Expressing his views on the much anticipated Pakistan, India match, which the Men in Green lost, the all rounder said that the fans have the right to criticize us on our cricket, but they should not stoop to personal attacks.

“Whenever we lose to India, we as a nation respond as if we have lost a war. But it's a game, someone has to win and someone has to lose. It is fine to criticize us on our cricket, but one should not get personal.”

Imad however credited the team for making a strong comeback in the tournament after loss to India. "We gained the momentum and were unstoppable," he said.
